Who was cast as Kate Middleton in royal wedding movie?

British actress Camilla Luddington has been cast to play Kate Middleton in the upcoming royal wedding movie, William & Kate.

Names such as Emily Blunt and Keira Knightley were tossed around as look-alikes, however, the role of Kate Middleton was given to newcomer Camilla Luddington in the Lifetime movie William & Kate.

William & Kate will tell the story of the fairytale romance between Prince William and Kate Middleton and is slated to premiere around April 29 — the date of William and Kate’s actual wedding. Prince William is second in line to be the King of England and Middleton is the daughter of upper middle-class commoners. William and Kate met at Scotland’s University of St. Andrews and had a whirlwind romance that was followed closely by the press.

Besides both having the same layered brunette hair, Kate Middleton and Luddington also were both born in Middleton, Berkshire. Luddington has had small roles in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Days of Our Lives and Big Time Rush and is also set to appear in the next Hallmark movie called Accidentally in Love.

Nico Evers-Swindell (Edge of Darkness) has been cast as Prince William and Ben Cross (Star Trek) will play Prince Charles in the movie. They are set to begin filming on February 10.

William & Kate is produced by the Konigsberg Co (Lifetime’s Sex & Lies in Sin City). Mark Rosman (Ghost Whisperer) will direct and the screenplay is by Nancey Silvers (Lifetime’s Sundays at Tiffany’s).
