Christina Aguilera speaks about national anthem flub

Christina Aguilera made a national flub while singing the national anthem at Sunday’s Super Bowl game. Now, Aguilera is speaking out about the mistake heard by millions.

Singing the national anthem during the biggest game of the year is never easy — just ask Christina Aguilera. During Sunday’s Super Bowl game between the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Christina Aguilera got a bit flustered during her rendition of the national anthem. We all saw and heard what happened in Arlington, Texas and the singer is going on record in regards to the mishap.

“I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through,” Aguilera said of her national anthem performance. Hey, it happens. At least she isn’t acting like it didn’t.

If you weren’t watching or haven’t caught the latest news on Christina Aguilera’s national anthem flub, here’s what happened. Rather than belting out “O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming,” she echoed the lyrics before, singing, “What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last gleaming.”

Aguilera also sang the word “watched” instead of “hailed.”

This is the biggest game of the year and fans can be pretty unforgiving when it comes to the patriotic game opener. Do you think her statement is enough or was it even a big deal to the masses? Was Lea Michele’s exquisite rendition of America the Beautiful enough to make us forget Christina Aguilera’s national mistake?
