Olivia Wilde and Tao Ruspoli split

Actress Olivia Wilde has separated from her royal husband of eight years, Tao Ruspoli.

Houseactress Olivia Wilde was just 18 years old when she married Tao Ruspoli, the son of the late Italian Prince Dado Ruspoli. Now, Wilde has confirmed that the pair has split up.

“They have been living apart after trying for quite some time to make their relationship work,” a source tells People.

Was it her sexy image that drove them apart? The Tron: Legacy star says that Ruspoli, whose family owns Rome’s Palazzo Ruspoli, actually doesn’t mind her love scenes with other men or her racy photo shoots. “I think he likes it,” she said. “It’s a turn-on that I get to do these things.”

The couple had a quick marriage, eloping after only six months of dating. They didn’t have a huge royal wedding, but chose an abandoned school bus in rural Virginia as their wedding spot.

“The bus was the only place we could be completely alone,” she told Playboy. “The wedding was a secret, and we wanted to do it someplace where we could hide with our best friends. It was all about the intimacy of the promise we were making.”

Will Olivia Wilde miss her princess status? “I never call myself [a princess],” Wilde said. “I occasionally get mail that says ‘Principessa.’ It’s all part of being this lucky person who has been welcomed into an interesting family with a long history…How many people get to say ‘This castle has been in our family since the 1400s?'”
