Ashlee Simpson has filed for divorce from her husband of two years, Fall Out Boy Pete Wentz. What went wrong?
Singer Ashlee Simpson filed for divorce from Pete Wentz at the L.A. County Superior Court, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce.
Simpson made the following statement to People:
“After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority. We ask that everyone honor our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives.”
Married since May 16, 2008, she is asking for joint legal custody and primary physical custody of the couple’s child, three-year-old Bronx. TMZ is reporting the couple has no prenup, and Simpson is asking for both spousal and child support.
What could have gone wrong? The couple seemed happy — and Ashlee Simpson even tweeted on January 19 to Wentz saying, “I already miss your handsome face!”
Wentz tweeted on February 7 about his son Bronx and was complimentary to Simpson. “Don’t forget 2 notice-when I look into the lil’ dudes eyes & smile, the way he loves. I realize @ashsimpsonwentz is a good moma + so much more.”
Simpson, who recently appeared on Melrose Place, married Wentz at her parents’ Encino home in 2008.
