Lindsay Lohan plead not guilty today to a felony grand theft charge in a Los Angeles court. Is the actress headed back to the slammer?
Lindsay Lohan is in some deep trouble.
The actress appeared in a Los Angeles court this afternoon to be arraigned for grand theft and the judge had some pretty harsh words for the troubled star.
“You’re no different than anyone else. Please don’t push your luck,” presiding judge Keith L. Schwartz told Lohan before she entered a not guilty plea. “You’re in a different situation now with a felony.”
He then revoked her probation and set her bail at $20,000 for the grand theft charge and $20,000 for the revoked probation. That means Lohan will have to post $40,000 to get out of jail.
Lohan was immediately taken into custody after the hearing — and TMZ is reporting that she’s being booked into a L.A. jail.
TMZ also reports that Lohan’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, and prosecutor Dannette Meyers are going to meet to discuss a possible plea deal in the case.
That’s probably a good choice for Lohan — a conviction on the felony grand theft charge can carry three years of prison time, according to reports.
Not surpringly, Lohan was ordered to stay away from Kamofie & Co., the Venice, California jewelry store that reported the custom necklace stolen. TMZ reported that store owners were “freaked out” when they received flowers from someone before the case went to court.
No word if it was Lohan who sent the flowers, but we can understand their concern for safety.
