Grey’s Anatomy: PYT preview

Meredith and Lexie’s father returns with stomach pains and a pretty young thing on his arm on tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy. Meanwhile, Alex clashes with the new OB and Mark does Avery a favor in exchange for the goods on Lexie.

It looks like Meredith and Derek and Cristina and Owen are reveling in the holiday spirit and with so much Valentine’s Day love in the air, single Karev decides to put the moves on a new nurse. It turns out, however, she’s actually the new OB on Grey’s Anatomy, Dr. Lucy Fields (Rachael Taylor). The sexist mistake offends her, but when Karev follows up by describing a baby as a turnip (aka a vegetable), she bars him from the NICU.

Lexie is also having a bad time in the love department, two-fold. She’s annoyed her father didn’t give her a heads up about rejecting Meredith’s kidney, but that isn’t the half of it. It seems Thatcher has his own new Valentine. He found love at an AA meeting — with a hot, tattooed, twenty-something blonde, Danielle, played by All My Children alum Alexa Havins.

Lexie immediately runs to tell Mere, who is usually Thatcher’s biggest hater. Meredith surprises Lexie by suggesting they just let him be happy, but Lexie can’t. Tensions run high and when Danielle yells that she’s “his family too,” Lexie retorts that she’s actually “his midlife crisis.”

Lexie may be venting some of the anger she’s feeling toward Mark for knocking up Callie. Mark still has his eye on Lexie, and he’d love to help her get through this new drama, but he’s not allowed to, so he offers Avery a little professional tit for personal tat.

Mark says Avery can stay on his service to get more rhinoplasty experience, as long as he uses his pretty smile to get the dish on Lexie. Once Avery gets the scoop on Thatcher’s new girl, Mark sends him back out for more, offering pro-bono cleft palate experience in exchange, which would help Avery in the fight for Chief Resident. Will Avery play McSteamy’s game?

Mark is also working with Arizona to keep a close eye on their baby momma. He might be the type to play it cool normally, but he can’t argue when Arizona lays out the facts. Callie is not thrilled to kick coffee for the nasty but healthy green goo Arizona blends up for her, especially after she tastes it.

Grey’s Anatomy: PYT airs Thursday, February 10 at 9 p.m. on ABC, followed by Private Practice: Blind Love.
