Since the end of Kiefer Sutherland‘s run as Jack Bauer, 24 fans have been anxious to see what would lure the American hero back to TV. Now, word is Sutherland is in talks to take the lead in Touch, a Twentieth Century Fox Television pilot from Heroes creator Tim Kring.
Kiefer Sutherland is in negotiations to join Fox’s pilot Touch, according to THR. The drama from Heroes creator Tim Kring is about a father who discovers his autistic, mute son has an incredible gift: He can predict future events!
Sutherland is reportedly in early negotiations to sign on as the dad in Touch, but scheduling conflicts may cause a problem before talks get very far. Sutherland’s Broadway revival of That Championship Season just began running previews last week.
Word came last month that Chernin Entertainment and Twentieth Century Fox Television have teamed up for Kring’s pilot, Touch, which also has Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope on board as exec producers. Word is, pilot director extraordinaire Charles McDougall (Desperate Housewives, The Good Wife and The Chicago Code) is also in talks to get on board.
Landing Sutherland would make the new pilot seem like a slam dunk. Once a serious wild child, the Lost Boys star resurrected his career when he signed on to Fox’s 24, which ran from 2001 to 2010. Though he still got into personal shenanigans now and then, over the course of eight seasons as CTU agent Jack Bauer, Sutherland won over millions of fans and landed an Emmy.
