In an online video posting, Demi Lovato is speaking out for the first time since leaving a treatment facility, thanking fans for getting her through what she calls “the darkest time of my life.”
When Demi Lovato entered a treatment center in October of 2010 to deal with unknown issues, we were left wondering what would become of the 18-year-old Disney star’s future. After hearing her personal message to fans just one month after leaving the facility, it seems she’s healing and her future couldn’t be brighter.
“I wanted to send you guys a message because I know you’ve seen me out and about and I wanted to let you know that I am back and home,” Lovato explained in a video message posted online. “I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the support you guys have given me along the way… Your support is what got me through this. I couldn’t be more thankful for everything you guys sent me.”
The bright spot in her journey through what she calls “the darkest time of my life” is that whatever she was dealing with is a parallel to what others are going through.
“The journey that I’ve been on has been very, very difficult over the past few months. I was dealing with issues that I know, not only girls just my age, but of all ages are dealing with.”
While she’s not giving specifics for what she was treated for, Demi Lovato’s message was loud and clear. “People watching this video right now are probably dealing with the issues I had to and I hope to one day raise awareness of everything, so that I can help people too, just like you guys helped me through this rough time.”
Lovato added, “I can’t tell you how much light you guys brought into my life in probably the darkest time of my life. Without you guys, I wouldn’t be here today… I’m excited to get back to work… I love you all and I couldn’t have done this without you.”
All we can say at this point is Demi Lovato took action so she could move on with her life. She took responsibility privately and got help. Welcome back, Demi Lovato!
