Despite the dreaded girl curse running rampant on the American Idol stage, a guy was sent home this week. Who was that guy? Our favorite quirky singer — Paul McDonald.
During Wednesday’s American Idol live performance show, Jennifer Lopez practically begged America not to send a girl home and it looks like America was fine with that.
More than 53 million votes came in this week but there just weren’t enough for American Idol hopeful Paul McDonald.
Paul McDonald landed in the bottom three with Haley Reinhart, who wasn’t as loved by the judges this week. But the third contestant in the bottom came as quite a shock — top vocalist of the week, Stefano Langone. Judges praised his performance of End of the Road this week and felt he finally connected with the artist inside.
Stefano and Haley managed to muster enough votes but it was adios to the unique voice of Paul McDonald. The Huntsville, Alabama singer, who calls Nashville his home, flashed his famous pearly white teeth and took it all in stride.
“It’s OK, man, it’s OK. It’s been fun, a good time,” Paul told host Ryan Seacrest. McDonald got to sing his swan song, Maggie May (requested by Jennifer Lopez), before exiting the stage for the final time.
What did you think of a guy finally going home on American Idol? Do you think America got it right with the elimination of Paul McDonald? Tell us, we want to know.
