Duchess Sarah Ferguson talks to Oprah Winfrey about how hurt she was that she was snubbed and not invited to the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. At least her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, represented in their crazy royal wedding hats!
Prince William and Kate Middleton sent out 1,900 invitations to the royal wedding, but Sarah Ferguson’s must have gotten lost in the mail. The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, made an appearance onThe Oprah Winfrey Show to discuss the hurt she felt after she was left off the royal wedding guest list. Despite the fact she was humiliated in 2010 after she was caught on camera accepting money in exchange for access to her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, she seemed surprised and embarrassed that her entire family was invited — except for her.
Fergie describes the royal wedding day of April 29th as “so difficult. Because I wanted to be there with my girls and… to be getting them dressed and to go as a family. And also it was so hard because the last bride up that aisle was me.”
Fergie was married to Prince William’s uncle, Prince Andrew, and they have two children together — 22-year-old Princess Beatrice and 21-year-old Princess Eugenie. As you may remember, the girls caused quite a stir at the royal wedding by wearing gravity defying hats.
“When Andrew went with the girls, we were talking all morning and he was saying, ‘It’s okay. Just remember we had such a good day.’ Our wedding was so perfect,” Fergie tells Oprah.
“I think what I felt was that I went through the phase of feeling so totally worthless and that [it] was quite right they didn’t invite me. Why would they?” she asks.
She went on to say that since she was not invited, she “chose to go and be in Thailand in a place called Camelia and… the jungle embraced me.”
Fergie goes on to say that Diana would be proud of her sons — and she took comfort in the fact that neither of them were there. “I think Diana would be so proud of her son,” she says. “And — both of them, you know? They did a great job. And I really love the feeling that sort of Diana and I both weren’t there. But I’m here to say how proud she would have been, and Kate looked utterly beautiful.”
The entire interview airs on The Oprah Winfrey Show on Tuesday.
