The rumors have been confirmed: Ashton Kutcher will replace Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men!
Confirmed! After leaving us in suspense for a whopping 24 hours, CBS and Warner Bros. have confirmed that Ashton Kutcher will be taking over for Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men.
The network and studio sent out a joint press release announcing the news.
“We are so lucky to have someone as talented, joyful and just plain remarkable as Ashton joining our family,” said show creator Chuck Lorre in the PR piece.
“Ashton Kutcher brings a new and distinctive comedic flavor to Two and a Half Men,” chimed in Warner Bros. TV president Peter Roth. “He is a big-time talent whose unique style will blend seamlessly with Jon Cryer, Angus T. Jones and the rest of this terrific ensemble. We look forward to a great future for this revamped and reenergized show, helmed as always by the extraordinary Chuck Lorre, whose creative skills and consummate professionalism make him the best in the business.”
That’s a stunningly different picture than the one Charlie Sheen painted of Chuck Lorre, but since both parties are rather biased, the truth probably lies somewhere in between.
After hinting at the deal on Twitter, Ashton finally gave a real statement in the release.
“I can’t wait to work with this ridiculously talented 2.5 team and I believe we can fill the stage with laughter that will echo in viewers’ homes,” he said. “I can’t replace Charlie Sheen but I’m going to work my ass off to entertain the hell out of people!”
What’s not been officially announced? Kutcher’s salary. TMZ reports that while he will be raking in less than Sheen’s $1.25 million per episode base salary ($2 million with various bonuses), Kutcher will be taking home somewhere between $800,000 and $900,000 per episode. Not too shabby.
