Timberlake and Spears haven’t spoken in nearly a decade, but he wishes her the best.
Why be normal? That was the basis of the relationship between Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, according to the point of view of Timberlake in a new Vanity Fairinterview.
“I just don’t think we were normal — there was nothing normal about our existence,” Timberlake said. “We spent way too much time being the biggest thing for teenyboppers.”
We’re not sure of the degree of normalcy of Timberlake and Spears not speaking to one another for most of the last decade.
“We haven’t spoken in nine or 10 years,” Timberlake said. “I wish her the best [and] that goes without saying.”
The two were hot and heavy until 2002 when they split.
“We were two birds of the same feather; small-town kids, doing the same thing,” he said. “But then you become adults, and the way you were as kids doesn’t make any sense. I won’t speak on her, but at least for me, I was a totally different person.”
Timberlake feels a bit differently about another ex, Jessica Biel.

“She is single-handedly the most significant person in my life,” Timberlake said. “In my 30 years, she is the most special person, OK? I just don’t want to say much more, because I have to protect things that are dear to me. For instance, her.”
We guess Britney doesn’t rate the same level of protection. Timberlake’s latest squeezes are rumored to be Olivia Wilde and Ashley Olsen.
Timberlake, 30, is set to star with another ex-girlfriend, Cameron Diaz, in the comedy Bad Teacher, due out June 24 in theaters.
