With Parks and Recreation’s Nick Offerman set to host the 27th Annual TCA Awards in August 2011, the nominees have been announced! Steven Bochco, Dick Ebersol, Cloris Leachman, David Letterman, William Shatner and Oprah Winfrey will face off for the TCA’s 2011 Career Achievement Award; while Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, Parks & Rec, Justified and Friday Night Lights rule the nominees.
The 2011 TCA Awards nominees are in! The Television Critics Association (TCA), comprised of over 200 professional TV critics and journalists from the United States and Canada, recognizes outstanding television programming in the 2010-2011 season, honoring both actors and producers in a variety of categories including news and information, youth, drama and comedy achievements. Unlike most industry awards shows, the TCA does not make gender distinctions, with all categories being coed.
The leading ladies and gents nominated for Individual Achievement in Drama include Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife), Margo Martindale (Justified) and Timothy Olyphant (Justified).
Individual Achievement in Comedy sees host Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) up against Ty Burrell (Modern Family), Louis C.K. (Louie), Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation), Danny Pudi (Community) and Jon Stewart (The Daily Show).
Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, Parks and Recreation, Justified and Friday Night Lights are in the running for Program of the Year, as well as either Achievement in Drama or Achievement in Comedy. The Drama contenders are Friday Night Lights, Game of Thrones, Justified, Mad Men and The Good Wife; while the Comedy contenders are Community, Louie, Modern Family, Parks and Recreation and Raising Hope.
Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, Terriers, The Killing and Walking Dead will duke it out for 2011’s Outstanding New Program.
This year’s TCA awards include the addition of a new category honoring Achievement in Reality Programming. Nominees include Amazing Race, Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, Survivor, The Voice and Top Chef: All Stars.
The TCA’s 2011 Career Achievement Award nominees are Steven Bochco, Dick Ebersol, Cloris Leachman, David Letterman, William Shatner and Oprah Winfrey; while Heritage Award nominees are All in the Family, Freaks and Geeks, The Dick Van Dyke Show and Twin Peaks.
The winners will be announced Saturday, August 6 during the 27th Annual TCA Awards Gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel — and SheKnows will be on hand to get the story!
