Oprah Winfrey’s dream interview: An OJ Simpson confession

Oprah Winfrey says there is one interview she dreams of doing: An OJ Simpson confession.

Over the years Oprah Winfrey has interviewed hundreds of notable public figures, but there is one story she still dreams of landing: A confession from OJ Simpson.

“I have a dream of OJ Simpson confessing to me,” Oprah said during an interview with Paula Zahn at the NCTA Cable Show in Chicago. “And I am going to make that happen, people.”

Oprah said she is pulling out all the stops to get the confession interview — and one with convicted killer mom Susan Smith — for her new interview show Oprah’s Next Chapter on her new network OWN. The show is set to debut in January 2012.

“I don’t just want the interview,” she continued. “I want the interview on the condition that you are ready, Mr. Simpson.”

On this day in 1994, OJ Simpson was arrested for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman after a dramatic low-speed car chase. Simpson was later acquitted of the crimes in an extremely controversial jury decision. The former football star is now serving a nine-year prison sentence for an armed confrontation with friends who he said “stole” memorabilia from him.

Oprah’s last show of her wildly successful syndicated series wrapped in May.
