It’s safe to say Steven Spielberg won’t be casting Megan Fox in a film any time soon: He commanded Michael Bay to fire her from Transformers.
Shia LaBeouf was wrong: Megan Fox wasn’t fired from Transformers because she’s too sexy. The wife of cry-baby actor Brian Austin Green was fired from the mega-hit franchise because Steven Spielberg was more than a little upset with her Hitler comments.
“He’s like Napoleon and he wants to create this insane, infamous mad-man reputation,” Fox told Wonderland Magazine in 2009 of director Michael Bay. “He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he’s a nightmare to work for but when you get him away from set, and he’s not in director mode, I kind of really enjoy his personality because he’s so awkward, so hopelessly awkward. He has no social skills at all. And it’s endearing to watch him.”
So, it was supposed to be sort of a compliment? Spielberg wasn’t taking it that way.
“You know the Hitler thing. Steven (Spielberg) said, ‘Fire her right now,'” the Daily Mail quotes Bay as saying. Spielberg had the pull because he’s one of the franchise’s producers.
LaBeouf said that Fox left the film because she wasn’t comfortable with how Bay films women.
“Megan developed this Spice Girl strength, this woman-empowerment [stuff] that made her feel awkward about her involvement with Michael, who some people think is a very lascivious filmmaker, the way he films women,” he told the Los Angeles Times.
Eh, we’re pretty sure Fox thought she was untouchable and could say whatever she wanted. Apparently, no one told Spielberg that.
However, new Transformers vixen Rosie Huntington-Whiteley understood what it took to be in the upcoming film.
“Shia made it clear this wasn’t just about becoming a movie star. The shooting schedule was going to be grueling,” Huntington-Whiteley said recently while promoting the film. “You’re in the sun all day long — dirty and smelly. It was like boot camp.”
