Enrique Iglesias is breaking his silence on what really happened with his much-lauded and quickly-canceled concert tour with Britney Spears.
The double-billed concert tour of Enrique Iglesias and Britney Spears was over before it started — so what really happened?
There were rumors that Iglesias was miffed about being perceived as Britney’s opening act, even though it was an equal billing, and other rumors that Britney’s camp jumped the gun by announcing the tour before anything was set in stone. Now Iglesias says the tour would have been “great” but he just wasn’t up for it.
“I’m kind of sad because I’m a big Britney Spears fan and I think it would have been great for the fans,” Enrique Iglesias said on Ryan Seacrest‘s radio show. “It would have been different, but hopefully we’ll get to do it another time.”
“It was one of those things where the deal wasn’t completely finalized and it was a little bit rushed… I remember telling my manager it was crazy because I’d just come from Europe and I’d get no rest time. It was all very fast and when they announced it I wasn’t 100-percent convinced.”
Enrique Iglesias is currently on his Euphoria tour, while Britney Spears just kicked off her Femme Fatale tour with Nicki Minaj in Enrique’s place.
