Lost reunion: Terry O’Quinn joins Hawaii Five-0

Emmy-winning Lost alum Terry O’Quinn is coming to CBS’ Hawaii Five-O this September. O’Quinn’s new recurring character puts him in the story with Alex O’Loughlin’s McGarrett, but the guest gig also reunites O’Quinn with former Lost costar Daniel Dae Kim.

“We’re lucky to have Terry on Hawaii Five-O,” said Daniel Dae Kim. “He’s a great actor who brings a sense of ease and professionalism to every project he works on, and I’m excited to work with him again.”

When Hawaii Five-O returns this September, Terry O’Quinn will show up as a Navy Seal Lt. Commander who trained McGarrett in Coronado and served in Vietnam with his late father. Last season, McGarrett’s hunt for his parent’s killer saw him framed for murder and the Five-O disbanded. O’Quinn’s character arrives with several secrets in his arsenal, including some doozies about that murder.

“O’Quinn’s character, who we will meet in the premiere, is going to be a major contributor to our team… because he taught McGarrett everything he knows,” teases executive producer Peter Lenkov.

No word yet if his character will come across Hawaii Five-O‘s quirky coroner, played by Heroes alum Masi Oka, who lost the Supporting Actor Emmy to O’Quinn in 2007.

Before winning over America as stoic John Locke on Lost, O’Quinn has had roles in The West Wing, Alias, Miami Vice and The Twilight Zone, to name just a few of his TV gigs. He also played a psycho in The Stepfather movies.

When Lostwrapped, there was much buzz about O’Quinn and Michael Emerson (Ben Linus) reuniting for J.J. Abrams’ Odd Jobs, about former black ops agents. After NBC picked up the pilot, however, development was pushed back. This fall, while O’Quinn heads back to Hawaii (where Lost was shot and he may actually still be living), Emerson will star on J.J. Abrams’ Person of Interest on CBS, about an ex-CIA hitman (Jim Caviezel) and a scientist (Emerson) who team up to prevent crimes before they happen.

Lost alum Nestor Carbonell (Richard Alpert) is also returning to TV this fall in the CW’s Ringer, starring with Sarah Michelle Gellar; while Jorge Garcia is set to return to the tube midseason on FOX’s Alcatraz.
