American Idol‘s Pia Toscano has officially signed on the dotted line with Jimmy Iovine and Interscope Records.
American Idolheard a lot of boos when Pia Toscano was eliminated early in the competition during season 10. None of that matters now. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pia Toscano has officially signed a record deal with Jimmy Iovine and Interscope Records.
Toscano is coming out of the gate strong. She’s set to release her first single, This Time, on July 12. This Time was written by Rihanna and Nicki Minaj’s famed wordsmith — Ester Dean. Word has it the single is going to deliver a sick beat with acoustic flavor.
Pia Toscano’s actual album is set to drop sometime later this year and according to producer Rodney Jerkins, it will be a “big, diva-sounding record.”
News began to spread quickly after her elimination that Toscano was in the process of finalizing a deal but it wasn’t quite official until now.
Toscano said in a statement, “I am thrilled to be joining the Interscope and 19 Recordings family. [Interscope Geffen A&M Chairman] Jimmy Iovine was an amazing mentor during my time on Idol and I’m looking forward to working with him and everyone at Interscope Records and 19 Recordings. This is a dream come true.”
She added, “I feel like I’m in really good hands. The most important thing for me is feeling safe with my team. I think they have a good vision for me and where my career is going to go.”
The American Idol tour kicks off on July 6. Don’t miss your chance to see all your favorite Idols — especially Pia Toscano.
