BAFTA red carpet hits and misses

by

Hollywood stars walked the red carpet with Will and Kate Saturday night. Who were the best and worst dressed?

The BAFTA Brits to Watch 2011 Gala was extra special this year because of the presence of the guests of honor: No less than Prince William and Catherine, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, themselves! Will and Kate looked divine, of course — but how did the other celebs fare? Read on for our BAFTA red carpet hits and misses!

Princess perfect

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge

Good ol’ Kate Middleton simply epitomizes femininity and grace in this lovely lavender pleated silk cap sleeved gown, accentuating her tiny waist with a glittering white belt. The dress was Alexander McQueen, the same fashion house responsible for her equally lovely wedding gown. This is how a lady dresses.

Maria Bello

Maria Bello wins second best dressed of the night, behind only the Duchess herself. Looking regal and keeping it classy in a mercury one-shouldered gown with upswept hair and perfect accessories, Bello proved you don’t have to have your gut hanging out to make an impression (we’re looking at you, Jennifer Lopez).

Elisabeth Moss

Elisabeth Moss is used to dressing like a lady from her role in Mad Men. She was pretty in pink and perfectly ladylike in this pleated silk gown with an illusion neckline. Do you think she freaked when she saw that Kate Middleton was also wearing pleats?

Jennifer Garner

If we’re going to be 100 percent honest, Jennifer Garner merely looks okay. It’s just so shocking to see her out in public wearing something other than Ben Affleck’s old jeans and a shlumpy tee shirt that we want to encourage her to do it more often. She even put makeup on! Very pretty, even if the expression on her face reads “Whoever smelt it, dealt it.”
