With Emmy nominations set to drop tomorrow morning, SheKnows foresees another good year for favorites Modern Family, 30 Rock, The Good Wife, Mad Men, Glee, Dexter and Friday Night Lights. Freshman contenders The Big C, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire and maybe even The Walking Dead could also make the cut. Will HBO and ABC reign again?
Melissa McCarthy (Mike & Molly) and Joshua Jackson (Fringe) will get up bright and early tomorrow morning, Thursday, July 14 at 5:35 a.m. PST, to announce the 63rd primetime Emmy nominations on Emmys.com.
This year, fans can expect to see up to six nominees in each of the major Emmy Awards categories, which could shake up the race.
Some projections contend Friday Night Lights could sweep the awards show. At the very least, we anticipate Kyle Chandler will make the best actors list. Other big contenders for that big one include Steve Buscemi, Timothy Olyphant and faves Hugh Laurie, Michael C. Hall and Jon Hamm.
Critical darlings like Sons of Anarchy, Community and Fringe and their stellar casts may deserve spots on the board, but won’t likely land any, considering last year’s nominee list.
Sons of Anarchy‘s Katey Sagal, in particular, might be the only contender out there with the chops to beat out The Good Wife‘s Julianna Margulies for Best Actress. Too bad SOA never gets any Emmy love.
Modern Family, 30 Rock and The Big Bang Theory are shoo-ins to show in the comedy categories. Cable heavyweights United States of Tara, Nurse Jackie and The Big C are also contenders, while we can’t quite imagine a nominee list without some love for Gleeor How I Met Your Mother‘s Neil Patrick Harris. We’re curious to see if Cougar Town makes the cut, let alone Steve Carell’s final year on The Office, and would love to see Episodes, Raising Hope, Parks and Recreation and Community make a few categories.
If you’re wondering why Breaking Bad didn’t even make the convo, there were no episodes that made the date cut, so it wasn’t a contender for the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards.
Jane Lynch is set to host the big event, which will air live coast to coast on Sunday, September 18 (8 p.m. EST and 5 p.m. PST) on Fox from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles. Stay tuned for the nominations!
