A trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man was leaked and then yanked by Sony. SheKnows managed to find a live preview, but then the file we found was yanked, too. No doubt, Sony is still scouring the Internet for the footage from Marc Webb’s Spider-Man 3D reboot, but we can fill you in on what you missed — and let you know when it’s officially landing!
A grainy, low quality Spider-Man trailer hit the net and while SheKnows can’t show it to you, we did get to see it before it was yanked.
The official Amazing Spider-Man trailer begins with the Spider-Man origin story and it looks like we’re going to get a bit more into Spidey’s parentage than we did with Tobey Maguire’s Spidey. In fact, Andrew Garfield’s revamped yet retro Spidey may just end up tripping into his parents’ drama.
The first clip of the preview is Dad (Campbell Scott) explaining to a young Peter Parker that he has to go stay with his Aunt May (Sally Field) and Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) for his own safety. Mom (Embeth Davidtz) and Dad are involved in something — SheKnows suspects that something will later affect Spidey’s journey, as the trailer also includes teen Peter finding something his father left behind and then ending with the ominous line, “We all have secrets. The ones we keep and the ones that are kept from us.”
Yes, we said “something” a lot, but that’s the nature of a tease, right? Intriguing, indeed.
The Spider-Man trailer also includes glimpses of dorky Peter meeting the gorgeous and (presumably) brilliant Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), as well as Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans). There’s also some decent coverage of that fateful spider bite.
There are no shots, however, of the Lizard, though we do hear a voice tempting — or taunting? — Spider-Man and we suspect that is the villain of this tale.
The famous Spider-Man suit is, as well, pretty much MIA. There is one blurry screen capture floating around the net, but SheKnows couldn’t spot it in the action. We’re not even confident it came from the preview. For the most part, when we’re with Spidey in the trailer, we’re seeing his view as he flies up walls and over rooftops using his trusty webs.
There may still be a few live links to the Amazing Spider-Man preview around the net. Luckily, diehard Spidey fans only have to wait three more days to get at the official sneak peek, which will start running before screenings of Captain America: The First Avenger.
