Vanilla Ice thinks that Justin Bieber better not get too comfortable on the top of the pop star pile — because the day will come that no one cares anymore.
It’s pretty safe to say Vanilla Ice does not have Bieber fever. The former rapper and current home improvement show host says Justin Bieber better enjoy his fame now, because when it ends the kid is going to crash — hard.
“I mean, I did Ice Ice Baby when I was 16. So I can kind of relate a bit,” Vanilla Ice, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, told the Huffington Post.
Hmmm, someone didn’t do very well in math, it seems. Van Winkle was born in 1967 and Ice Ice Baby was released in 1989, making him 22, not 16, but whatever.
“Sold over a hundred million records,” he continued. “And I had a weekend that lasted about three years, and I didn’t know who I was, what’s my purpose in life.”
“So my prediction about Bieber is that he’s going to go through one of those weekends that lasts a few years because he’s had such success as a child act. You know, then something else new will come along and he’ll be forgotten and he can try to put all the pieces back together, so it’s going to be entertaining to watch.”
Well now, that’s not very nice, is it? Justin Bieber is just a kid after all.
This theory of Vanilla Ice’s is full of holes, because Bieber at 17 is already way ahead of Ice at 22. In addition to Bieber’s numerous hit singles and millions of album sales, he is enjoying his own 3D movie, acting credits and his own perfume and nail polish lines — then there’s that private concert for the Beckham kids, which means you’ve really made it.
