Maria Shriver speaks out on son’s injury and prognosis

Christopher Schwarzenegger, the son of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger, was badly injured last week at a Malibu beach. Maria and Arnold have released a statement giving details on his injuries and his prognosis for recovery.

Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger may be in the middle of a divorce, but they are still united when it comes to the love of their children.

After their 13-year-old son, Christopher, was injured and hospitalized after a boogie boarding accident, Maria and Arnold have made a joint statement on this “very scary week.”

“A few days ago our son Christopher suffered an accident at the beach,” they say in a joint statement. “While it has been a very scary week, Christopher is surrounded by his family and friends. He is a brave boy and is expected to make a full recovery.”

Christopher was boogie boarding on a Malibu beach last week when an accident occurred and he suffered a collapsed lung, broken bones and broken ribs. Luckily, Maria was on the beach with him and got him help. He was in intensive care for a period of time.

“On behalf of our entire family, we want to sincerely thank the paramedics and lifeguards who responded so swiftly as well as the doctors, nurses, emergency room and hospital staff who have cared for our son,” Maria and Arnold say in the statement. “They have been extraordinary to him and to us. We thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers and ask for respect and privacy for Christopher and our family.”
