Kim Kardashian learns that the red, blotchy rash on her legs is a hereditary skin condition called psoriasis. Kim K learns about what brings on this skin condition, as well as what it could mean for her modeling career.
The latest episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians shows the engaged reality star Kim Kardashian in tears because her skin has broken out in a blotchy, red rash. With her upcoming wedding to Kris Humphries, plus a commercial to shoot, Kim heads to the dermatologist to figure out what is going on.
“Khloe seems to think I have ringworm,” she tells the doctor, showing him the itchy, red spots on her legs.
The doctor tells her it is not ringworm, but psoriasis, which is a hereditary skin condition that can cause the flaky, red patches.
“When the doctor tells me I have psoriasis, I have heard about it because my mom [Kris Jenner] has it, but she didn’t have red flaky dots all over her,” Kim says.
Kim is distressed to learn that it is “not curable, but controllable,” and the doctor tells her that stress and lifestyle can make the skin condition worse.

“My career is doing ad campaigns and swimsuit photo shoots,” she tells the camera. “People don’t understand the pressure I feel to feel perfect. When I gain a pound, it is in the headlines, so imagine what the tabloids will do to me when they see all these spots.”
Kim, 30, is not alone with this skin diagnosis. Along with millions of Americans, LeAnn Rimes and America’s Next Top Model winner CariDee English have both been open about their psoriasis diagnosis.
