Singer Lauryn Hill is being sued by a former touring band member for her infamous diva ways.
Ex-Fugees singer Lauryn Hill has more to worry about than changing dirty diapers — the new mom is being sued by her former tour guitarist, who claims the diva verbally abused the band and owes him cash from 2007.
Jay Gore was Hill’s guitarist during her 2007 European tour and says working with the Grammy Award-winning artist was a total nightmare.
“After shows, Hill would demand that the musicians and road support personnel attend meetings where she would engage in a person-by-person critique and berating,” Gore claims in court documents.
The guitarist says Hill “exhibited the type of behavior for which she had gained public notoriety which contributed to a hostile work environment.”
In other words, the rumors are true: Hill is absolutely nuts.
“At one point, Hill made a statement in front of the tour personnel to the effect that ‘I can’t believe I am paying you fools, you should be paying me,'” claims Gore.
The musician wants $20,000 in back pay and various fees.
“We believe there are other musicians who have been mistreated by Ms. Hill in a similar manner who are reluctant to stand up for their rights and this lawsuit gives them a voice as well,” he says.
Lauryn Hill recently gave birth to her sixth child. The father of her other five kids, Rowan Marley, and Hill herself has said he is not the new baby’s father, but neither is saying who is. Hill’s rep has not returned requests for a statement.
