MTV Video Music Awards: Lady Gaga scheduled to rock opening!

Prepare for the mother of all openings! Lady Gaga will be opening the Video Music Awards on August 28.

Lady Gaga knows how to make an entrance, so who better to open the MTV Video Music Awards than the Mother Monster herself?

Lady Gaga has confirmed she will open the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. “I’m just so excited, I can’t wait and I’ve been planning it for a week,” Lady Gaga gushed during Thursday night’s MTV First: Lady Gaga event in Times Square.

The way in which the announcement was made was in true Gaga-style. “I have a really big announcement,” Gaga told Sway of MTV. She continued, “But I thought as usual, instead of me announcing it, I’d let the Little Monsters do it for me.”

Fans in Times Square then unfolded a banner that read “Gaga To Open VMAs!!” Check out the video…
