VMA predictions 2011

The MTV Video Music Awards will air live this Sunday night from Los Angeles and, with performances from Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne and Adele, the show will undoubtedly be full of rockin’ music and fab fashions. Check out our VMA predictions as to who will win big – and who will go home empty-handed.

The MTV Video Music Awards show is so much fun to watch because it is so unpredictable, however we can still have fun picking our favorites! Who will be the big winner on Sunday night?

The Best Pop Video should go to Katy Perry forLast Friday Night (T.G.I.F). She’s got Rebecca Black, Kenny G, Hanson – and head gear. How can she lose? Britney Spears fans may pull a surprise win with Till the World Ends, but I’m placing my money on Katy.

The Best New Artist award is always hard to predict, however I think Foster The People (Pumped Up Kicks) or Kreayshawn (Gucci Gucci) are both poised to take home this coveted award. Could I be wrong? Of course — and you can still vote for this award at MTV.com.

I’m pulling for Mumford & Sons’ The Cave to bring home the trophy for Best Rock Video, but all the nominations in this category are great. The Black Keys’ Howlin’ For You video is entertaining and action-packed and Foo Fighters’ Walk is funny, yet thought provoking. Cage The Elephant and Foster The People both have rockin’ videos as well.

Best Hip-Hop Video should go to Chris Brown f/Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes for Look At Me Now. The dancing, the rapping, the music – all infectious fun. Their female competitor, Nicki Minaj, is still hoping beat out the boys. See how she rose to fame and landed on the moon >

The Best Female Video is packed with amazing ladies, including Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Adele. This is a tough one, but I think Lady Gaga deserves this one for Born This Way, although Katy Perry’s Firework is a fan favorite, and may take home the prize. Check out Katy’s most outrageous stage moments or see Lady Gaga rise to fame >

Best Male Video will probably go to Eminem f/Rihanna for Love the Way You Lie. Love it or hate it, the song inspired debates,  the video was thought-provoking – and starred Megan Fox in her underwear, a bonus for many hormone-crazed men.

Best Collaboration Award could be a toss-up between Chris Brown f/ Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes for Look At Me Now (did I mention it has over 105 million YouTube views?) and Katy Perry f/Kanye West for ET.

Video of the Year may go to Adele for Rolling in the Deep — although I wouldn’t be completely surprised if Katy Perry walked home with another trophy for this one with Firework. Or perhaps the underdog, Tyler, The Creator for Yonkers, will take it home?

Best Video with a Message will probably go to Rise Against for Make It Stop (September’s Children). The punk band addresses teen suicides in the LGBT community and stresses the message that life does get better. Other nominees include Pink’s F**** Perfect, Lady Gaga’s Born This Way, Eminen f/ Rihanna for Love the Way You Lie, Katy Perry’s Firework and Taylor Swift’s Mean.
