One of the hardest-working actors in Hollywood, James Franco, has dropped out of his Broadway debut, opposite Nicole Kidman, in Sweet Bird of Youth. No explanation was given for the actor’s sudden departure from the production.
Oscar-nominated actor James Franco will not be making his Broadway debut as scheduled this fall. He was set to star opposite Nicole Kidman in Sweet Bird of Youth.
As reported by the Associated Press, Franco has pulled out of the revival of the Tennessee Williams play, co-starring Nicole Kidman.
The story tells the tale of an aging actress and her lover, who uses her to try and get back into the movies.
The original Broadway production was nominated for several Tony Awards. Some of the legendary actors who made their marks in the production were Paul Newman, Geraldine Page and Sidney Blackmer.
Franco, who was skewered by critics after his hosting duties at the recent Oscars with Anne Hathaway, has a lot on his plate at the moment. He is currently studying at Yale University to earn a doctorate in English. He is currently in production for the epic film Oz, The Great and the Powerfuland shooting a guest-starring role on General Hospital.
If you have about ten minutes to read this through, we will now list all of the things he has in the fire, according to the Internet Movie Database — which is probably why he cannot commit to another thing at this time.
