Lady Gaga says her past drug use was self-indulgent and embarrassing.
Lady Gaga says she had a bad romance with drugs — and she only stopped when she was shamed into it.
In an interview with designer Jean Paul Gautier, Lady Gaga calls her drug use “self-indulgent.”
“I just was partying and being very self-indulgent and trying to find myself,” she said. “In hindsight, it’s so dangerous and I don’t encourage anyone to follow that path.”
Her lowest point? Getting busted by her dad.
“I remember my dad, I was actually doing drugs in my parents’ house one day and they didn’t know I was in the bathroom. I came out and my father could tell, and I just remember feeling so embarrassed and I quit instantly.”
“I care so much about my father, I’m very Italian American about those things. It was pretty instant,” she claimed.

And she wants her fans to know that they are her new drug. “What I’ve come to realize about my life is the joy and euphoria I experience with my fans is far better than drugs could ever be,” she said.
This isn’t the first time Lady Gaga has openly discussed her drug use. In July she told Howard Stern she did cocaine and ecstasy because she was lonely.
“I think that I was lonely and there was something about the drugs that made me feel like I had a friend,” Lady Gaga told Stern. “I didn’t do it with other people. I did it alone. I did it all alone in my apartment and I wrote music and you know what, I regret every line I ever did. So to any of the little sweethearts that are listening, don’t touch it, it’s the devil.”
