Melanie Brown may be the mother of three, but this is the first time she’s had a partner by her side throughout the pregnancy and baby’s early days. This time Mel B says she’s finally done motherhood right!
Melanie Brown, baby girl Madison and proud father Stephen Belafonte are all smiles on the latest cover of Hello! magazine. With his loving arm around her should, Mel B talks openly about how happy she is to have welcomed her third child with a partner by her side.
“This time I’ve done it with my partner — someone to come to every prenatal appointment with me, to get excited by every scan — and it feels like I’ve finally done it right,” Melanie Brown told the magazine.
Reflecting back on her first two pregnancies the situations were entirely different. Firstborn daughter Phoenix arrived during her “rocky marriage” to Jimmy Gulzar, and Melanie says her marriage to Eddie Murphy “was over halfway through the pregnancy” of second daughter Angel.
Melanie Brown continues, “Ideally you want to have your loving partner who you’ve created this baby with by your side throughout everything, and in Angel and Phoenix’s cases, that wasn’t the set up.”
The 35-year-old, who suffered some back issues during her latest pregnancy with baby Madison, now knows not to take a supportive partner for granted. “When I was moaning to Stephen about my trapped nerve I was thinking, ‘I’ve never had anyone to complain to about these kinds of things.'”
Speaking of Madison, who arrived while her mother laughed away, Melanie Brown gushes she is “so gorgeous, and such a chilled baby.” It’s a good thing too, because she’s got three big sisters also begging for their parents’ attention! In addition to Mel B’s daughters Phoenix and Angel, Stephen Belafonte is the father of 6-year-old Giselle from a previous relationship.
