The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo gets new, extended trailer!

A new trailer has been released for David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Unlike its predecessor, it has dialogue, establishes the story and introduces us to the main characters.

Following the release of The Muppets’ parody, The Pig with the Froggy Tattoo, Sony has debuted an extended trailer for the real thing. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is David Fincher’s adaptation of the Swedish novel and film that’s gone on to become a worldwide phenomenon.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo centers on a journalist named Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig), who is hired to search for a woman whose been missing for 40 years. He’s joined by an unconventional young investigator and computer hacker, Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara).

The first trailer for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was a showcase for Trent Reznor’s score, while the extended version delves into the story and allows you to familiarize yourself with the characters. Actress Rooney Mara completely submerges herself in the role of Lisbeth. The actress previously appeared in Fincher’s Best Picture nominee The Social Network in 2010.

The cast of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a mix of veterans and familiar character actors including Christopher Plummer, Robin Wright, Joely Richardson and Goran Visnjic. The film is being looked at as one of the prime candidates for Oscar consideration next year. But judging by the response to Clint Eastwood’sJ. Edgar trailer, which was released earlier this week, it’s going to be a tight race.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo opens everywhere December 21.
