The Vampire Diaries recap: “The End Of The Affair” marks interesting beginnings

Stefan and Klaus gave us a taste of the roaring twenties on The Vampire Diaries this week. If you thought Stefan’s hair was perfectly coiffed in the present, you should see it in the past.

The Vampire Diaries continued to heat things up this week with a trip back to the 1920s, giving us a bit more insight into who Stefan (Paul Wesley) was during the good old Ripper days.

Last week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries moved fast, and while we normally love curve balls thrown at us, we’re not sure if we’re ready to see where Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) hybrid mission is going to go next — because it can only lead to him realizing Elena’s alive.

This week’s episode, “The End Of The Affair,” included the roaring twenties, Caroline’s (Candice Accola) dad and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena’s continued efforts to find Stefan.

TVD: The roaring twenties

While Elena and Damon traveled to Chicago in the present in an attempt to save Stefan, viewers got to travel back to Chicago in the 1920s to get a better grasp on who Stefan was during the Ripper days — let’s just say, “Stefan was a cocky Ripper douche!”

Here’s what we learned about 1920s-Stefan: He kept a detailed log of his victims on a secret wall in his old apartment and he actually aligned himself with Klaus (who went by Nick) and another vampire named Rebecca. Guess who Rebecca was? Klaus’ sister and an Original.

The trio wreaked havoc on Chicago, with Stefan and Klaus forming a brotherly bond, until the bar they frequented was shot up with wooden bullets.

It seems someone was after “Nick” and Rebecca, so they ran, with Klaus compelling Stefan to forget them until he wanted him to remember again.

Flashback to the present — Klaus un-staked his dead sister Rebecca per witch Gloria’s advice so she could uncover why the hybrid plan backfired.

While waiting for Rebecca to show,  Klaus let Stefan in on their past, while Damon and Elena showed up to Gloria’s Bar.

More douchebag Stefan antics reared their head. After seeing Elena at the bar, he made it clear he didn’t ever want to see her again.

Best cliff hangers to this story…

First, Rebecca was staked in the 20s for not wanting to leave Stefan behind. Once Klaus gave Stefan his memories back in the present, it seemed he was actually glad to see Rebecca and remembered his bond with Klaus.

Second, Katherine is back and roaming present day Chicago. Oh, she was also in Chicago back in the ’20s.

TVD: Caroline update

Caroline was tortured by her dad Bill for a good portion of the episode, until mama came to the rescue and brought along the pup to help.

Watching Tyler (Michael Trevino) carry an ailing Caroline (Candice Accola) out of the cellar was sweet but a bit obvious for our taste.

A new romance is on the horizon — we can feel it.
