Eliminated Dancing with the Stars contestant Chaz Bono feels proud to have been part of the reality dance show and calls the experience “life changing.”
Chaz Bono danced his final dance last night onDancing with the Stars, but the LGBT activist has no regrets about taking his dancing leap of faith.
Said Bono to The Hollywood Reporter, “I was quite angry Monday night, but I feel really good [tonight] and I’m just grateful to have had the experience. I’m not leaving the show bitter or angry or anything, It was a wonderful, life-changing experience.”
He also stated, “We got to stay on a long time because of the fans. I got to dig deeper into myself than I ever have and overcome a lot of fear and pain and anxiety and stress. It’s made me a better person.”
But most of all, Chaz said during his final moment in the spotlight, “I took so much away from this. This was an amazing journey that pushed me and showed me that I could do more than I ever thought I could. I came on this show because I wanted to show America a different kind of man. If there was somebody on TV like me when I was growing up, my whole life would have been different. I dedicate everything I have ever done on this show to the kids who are like me and who are struggling, and to show them that you can have a wonderful life and be happy.”
Chaz’ partner, Lacey Schwimmer, who battled critics this year about her own weight issues as well, stated that the judges were “disrespectful” with their comments about Chaz’ weight after their Phantom of the Opera-inspired tango. She also stated, “After the judges comments and scores last night, it was kind of no question. It was almost as if they set it up, but we came and did what we wanted to do on the show.”
