Katy Perry is celebrating her birthday and her wedding anniversary this week. How does she want you to help her celebrate?
It’s a happy week for Katy Perry: She turns 27 today and is celebrating her one-year anniversary with her British hubby, Russell Brand. The Teenage Dream singer is rolling in the birthday wishes from fans, but she doesn’t want gifts.
“Thanks for the sweet B-day messages! For my b-day I have set up a donation page aspca.org/katyperry The voice for Animals! Give if u can!” she tweeted. Perry also included a special message on the donation page with a kitten on her shoulder. The singer is known for her love of cats — she has one aptly named Kitty Purry.
“Thank you for helping me celebrate my birthday by making a donation to the ASPCA. Please know that your donation is not only special to me, but to the countless animals you will help save,” she wrote on the site.
Fans soon took notice of her birthday wish and it soon became a trending topic on Twitter. “Ooo… it’s trending. i feel shpeshul [sic],” she tweeted later.

It’s hard to believe it’s been one year since Perry married her comedian in a lavish ceremony in India. The two kept it low-key for their anniversary on Oct. 23 with a bike ride in New York City and a movie.
“Me & the Mr. just watched Forks Over Knives it’s a pretty cool doc for anyone interested :),” she tweeted on Sunday night. “You can get it on Netflix!”
Perry is back to the UK this week for her California Dreams tour, while Brand spent some time at the Occupy Wall Street protests in lower Manhattan last week.
