Kim Kardashian’s divorce: who gets what?

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries divorce isn’t shocking, but could Kris end up a very wealthy guy after his quick marriage to the reality superstar just went down in flames?

Kim Kardashianfiled for divorce today from Kris Humphries, in case you haven’t already heard. Amidst the craziness of this media frenzy, we wondered: what exactly are the gritty details of Kim’s prenuptial agreement?

When Kim was in Dubai a few weeks ago for work, she told Reuters, “I don’t really talk finances. My father was an attorney and I’m a smart girl — I’d like to think so — you can do the math. I wouldn’t worry about it.”

Forbes estimates Kim Kardashian is worth about $35 million, not counting her recent $17.9 million paycheck from her wedding to Kris Humphries. That’s right — the $10 million wedding was not only free to Kim and Kris, but she got paid major dollars to film the event. In addition to her various business ventures, Kim reportedly makes $40,000 per episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. As a whole, the Kardashian clan made over $65 million in 2010.

Kris Humphries could have been the clear winner in this divorce since his net worth is around $8 million. He pulled in $3.2 million last year on the New Jersey Nets and saw the biggest increase in his bank account thanks to his relationship with Kim Kardashian. He will reportedly see some of the $18 million Kim earned from the wedding as well as a fraction of the $1.5 million sale of their wedding photos to People. However… the prenuptial agreement pretty much lets the couple go their separate ways and keep their separate bank accounts.

Highlights of the prenuptial agreement Kris Jenner had drafted up for Kris Humphries include:

  • Kim’s Beverly Hill’s mansion is hers to keep
  • Kim’s assets (the $35 million number above) are 100% safe
  • Kim’s earning during the marriage, including the wedding payout, are hers to keep entirely
  • Kris receives no consolation since the marriage failed.
  • Kris receives no spousal support.

So, it looks like Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries divorce will end in a clean break. In addition to the straightforward prenuptial agreement, Kim also requested in her divorce filing for separate attorneys fees — Kim will pay for hers and Kris will pay for his. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries were married in August 2011 and divorced just 72 days later.
