Lady Gaga is giving back! The pop star is starting the Born This Way Foundation to empower youth.
Lady Gaga really wants your kids to feel good about themselves, go to college and get a good job — so much so that she’s started a charity to accomplish just that!
The pop star has started the Born This Way Foundation, and with the help of the MacArthur Foundation and Harvard University, she hopes the group can help kids focus on “issues like self-confidence, well-being, anti-bullying, mentoring and career development.”
The Grammy Award-winning 25-year-old will direct the Foundation along with her mother, Cynthia Germanotta.
“Together we hope to establish a standard of bravery and kindness, as well as a community worldwide that protects and nurtures others in the face of bullying and abandonment,” Lady Gaga said in a statement.
The move will ensure that an entire generation of little monsters gets the opportunities they deserve.
“Lady Gaga will help empower and give voice to young people who find themselves overwhelmed, under-supported, disconnected, isolated, bullied, or struggling,” said Dr. Bob Ross, the CEO and president of The California Endowment. “This brand of leadership is sorely needed in today’s world.”
The Born This Way Foundation will officially launch in 2012. In the meantime, you can sign up on the website for updates.
Lady Gaga’s third album Born This Way repeats on each single the theme that everyone is equal and can achieve success regardless of their skin color, sexuality or socioeconomic status.
