Snooki comes out in support of an alcohol-free Jersey Shore with less hooking up. Instead, there should be more “chilling out and having a good time.”
So far, alcohol and Jersey Shore has been the perfect mix as far as the ratings are concerned for the MTV show.
However, cast member Snooki would like a little less imbibing shown on the show.
“I wouldn’t show as much drinking and partying. I would show more of us chilling out and having a good time — which they don’t show,” Snooki said to GQ. “We don’t even drink those nights, but we laugh all night. They don’t show anything but us drinking and hooking up.”
The Season 4 opening episode, filmed in Italy, drew 8.8 million viewers to the show. However, the season’s finale last month only drew 6.6 million.
“They think that if they don’t show us drinking and hooking up then it wouldn’t stay successful, but I think that if they showed the sober side of us, people would like it even more and it’d even change people’s minds about us,” said Snooki, often the focus of the show’s drunken antics.

Snooki, aka Nicole Polizzi of New York, was arrested after a bender on the beach in Seaside Heights, New Jersey in 2010. She was charged with a disorderly persons offense and the incident was featured on a Season 3 episode.
Prior to her Jersey Shore stardom, Snooki was charged after 18-year-old Michael Truncali was killed when he crashed his car after attending a party Snooki had thrown at her parents’ New York home in 2004. MTV has said that Snooki “fulfilled her community service and her record was ultimately cleared.”
MTV did not reply when contacted by SheKnows about the alcohol consumption on the Jersey Shore.
So, is there another side to Snooki besides hookups and Ron Ron Juice? Yep, veterinarian sciences.
“Test me and bring me to a hospital,” Snooki said. “I can induce an animal, do surgery, do anesthesia, and take blood. So if you want to tell me I’m stupid again, let’s go to an animal hospital.”
Season 5 of Jersey Shore debuts Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012.
