Battle of the Snow White remakes: Kristen Stewart vs. Lily Collins

Snow White is a wanted woman. Lily Collins and Kristen Stewart will both play the beloved character in two separate films: Mirror Mirror and Snow White and the Huntsman. Which version of the fabled princess will audiences choose?

Move over Kristen Stewart, there’s a new Snow White in town. Relativity Media has just announced the official title and cast of their upcoming fairy tale: Mirror Mirror. It’s their live-action adaptation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs led by breakout actress Lily Collins.

Mirror Mirror will center on “an exiled princess who enlists the help of seven resourceful rebels to win back her birthright.” It’s directed by Tarsem Singh and is described as an adventure comedy with elements of romance, jealousy and betrayal. Oscar winner Julia Roberts co-stars as the Evil Queen who gets a little help from her bumbling sidekick played by Nathan Lane. And The Social Network‘sArmie Hammer plays Prince Andrew Alcott, the object of the Queen and Snow White’s affection.

Unlike Mirror Mirror, Snow White and the Huntsman will be darker, more action-oriented and concentrate on the relationship between the two title characters. Both films are led by young starlets, paired with Oscar-winning actresses (Charlize Theron plays the Evil Queen in Huntsman) — but which duo will have the most pull?

Taylor Lautner, who’s worked with Kristen Stewart on The Twilight Saga and dated Lily Collins, can’t pick a favorite. While at this year’s MTV Movie Awards, he was asked which film he’s more excited for. Lautner coyly replied, “It’s tough. I mean, my excuse is they’re so different. I can root for them both.”

Collins and Stewart’s films are both scheduled to debut next year. Mirror Mirror hits theaters March 16, while Stewart’s Snow White and the Huntsman opens June 1.

Which Snow White are you looking forward to?
