Taylor Swift crowned Entertainer of the Year at CMA Awards

Taylor Swift, Jason Aldean and The Band Perry all walk away as big winners from the 2011 CMA Awards in Nashville.

Tonight was another fairytale night for country superstar Taylor Swift: She won the coveted Entertainer of the Year award during the 2011 CMA Awards. The fair-haired singer took the stage to claim her prize with her trademark surprised look.

Swift beat out fellow superstar artists Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley and Keith Urban for the award. “This is amazing, the camaraderie among artists,” she said, referring to the artists who have joined her on stage during her Speak Now tour, “You have made my year.”

This isn’t the first time Swift won the coveted award — the 21-year-old also took home the Entertainer of the Year prize home in 2009.

“To win it twice is like the coolest thing that’s ever happened to me, happening twice,” Swift told reporters afterward. Of course, she let a little more excitement out on Twitter.

“Ahhhjhhhhhffhkytf!!!!! YES!!!! Thank you!!! Flipping out backstage!!!!!” she tweeted.

“Headed home feeling so grateful and happy and just… Thank you. To the fans who have made this year so wonderful, I just adore you,” she added a couple of hours later.

The Band Perry wins big

Swift wasn’t the only big winner of the night. Newcomer sibling group The Band Perry took home three armloads of trophies for their debut album, winning Single of the Year for their song “If I Die Young,” Song of the Year and New Artist of the Year.

“We promise to keep working hard every day to continue the honor of this award,” lead singer Kimberly Perry said.

Aldean also won his first CMA Awards trophies for album of the year for “My Kinda Party” and musical event of the year for “Don’t You Wanna Stay,” his duet with Kelly Clarkson.

“It’s crazy. I feel like with the success of the song that we had with Kelly I felt we had a decent shot with winning [an] award for that song, but as far as album of the year goes, that is something that wasn’t expected at all. To pull that in was cool,” Aldean told reporters after his wins.

Newlyweds Shelton and Miranda Lambert capped off the night with their wins — he won male vocalist of the year for the second time in as many years and she received her second-in-a-row nod for female vocalist of the year.

“I didn’t think ya’ll would let me get away with this two times,” Shelton said.
