With 18 kids at home and two grandchildren, power mom Michelle Duggar says she still has the time to take power naps, take care of herself and hit the elliptical machine for an hour a day.
While Michelle Duggar and her husband Jim Bob of 19 Kids and Counting fame recently revealed that they are expecting their 20th child, many critics couldn’t help but wonder how the couple manage to keep up with their large family.
According to the reality television mom, she still manages to find the time to take a power nap in the middle of the day and take care of herself — while many mothers simply don’t.
“I am taking a power nap every day,” she tells People magazine. “And I’m eating a lot of protein and green vegetables and no caffeine, which is a new thing for me.”
Duggar’s last pregnancy was a high-risk matter, though. She suffered from gallbladder problems as well as preeclampsia. In order to save her life, doctors delivered daughter Josie three and a half months prematurely — she weighed only one pound, six ounces at birth, and endured a series of health emergencies, including a perforated bowel.
Luckily for the Duggar family, Josie is now home and is developing normally. She will celebrate her second birthday in December.
Still though, that hasn’t stopped her from getting pregnant again — and collecting another TLC paycheck.
“I read up a lot on preeclampsia [while pregnant with Josie],” says Michelle,”and it is a crazy, random thing. I have been getting counseled from a high-risk pregnancy doctor in Little Rock and taking good care of myself.”
The Duggars’ 19 children, who range in age from 23 years to 23 months, are: Joshua, Jana, John-David, Jill, Jessa, Jinger, Joseph, Josiah, Joy-Anna, Jedidiah, Jeremiah, Jason, James, Justin, Jackson, Johannah, Jennifer, Jordyn-Grace and Josie.
