Hold tight to your loved one — the new trailer for Titanic 3D has arrived. Watch!
Titanic 3D is headed to theaters! Are you ready to journey back to heartbreak and icebergs circa 1997? If so, you won’t want to miss the new trailer below.
On April 6, 2012, Titanic 3D will debut and you are invited to “experience it like never before.” The release date is just four days before what will be the 100th anniversary of the day the doomed vessel set sail. The RMS Titanic was taken down four days into its maiden trip on April 14, 1912, after hitting an iceberg.
In a version of the Titanic 3D trailer shown on Titanic‘s official Facebook page, director James Cameron adds a personal message to fans. “I’m excited to be bringing Titanic back to the big screen again,” he said, then went on to thank the movie’s 10 million Facebook fans “for staying true to Titanic.”
According to James Cameron, the film’s Facebook page hit the milestone number of fans just last Thursday, Nov. 10. While some may wonder if there is a market for such a well-known film to be released in 3-D, the Facebook page alone speaks to an audience filled with eager ticket buyers. In the six days after reaching the 10 million fan benchmark, the Titanic page has gained another 388,000 followers.
The LA Times reports Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox are spending $18 million converting the film to 3-D. Not an astounding amount when compared to the original 1997 budget of $200 million!
Along with the appeal of nostalgia for those who saw the film in 1997, studios are marketing toward those who were either too young or too far from theaters to see Titanic on the big screen in the first place, such as in growing film markets like China and Russia.
Will you be buying a ticket to see Titanic 3D next April?
