Dancing with the Stars finale recap: Rob Kardashian’s perfect night!

Dancing with the Stars kicked off its two-night finale Monday evening with an event filled with hot dancing and spectacular freestyle routines.

Three stars, one mirrorball trophy — it’s anybody’s game. Who will be crowned the season 13 winner of Dancing with the Stars?

Ricki Lake, J.R. Martinez and Rob Kardashian left it all on the floor as they performed for your votes and the judges’ scores on Monday night.

Who’s going to walk away with a shiny new mirrorball trophy after the winner of Dancing with the Stars is crowned Tuesday night? Your guess is as good as ours, but if Monday night’s performances are any indication, this is not going to be an easy choice for America.

For now, we can tell you Rob Kardashian is in the lead with 57 points and J.R. Martinez and Ricki Lake are tied at the bottom with 54 points.

Ricki and Derek (54): Ricki Lake and Derek Hough hit the floor first with a cha-cha-cha that had club-fare. She’s been dancing up a storm all season, but this is the first time we’ve really seen her hips work that hard.

Len Goodman said, “It’s a dance deserving of this final,” while Bruno Tonioli said, “You’ve never been hotter. You’ve never been sexier.”

There were some fluidity issues, but she finally lived the dance instead of just acting it. They earned 27 for this round.

This is the dance we’ve been waiting for. Derek Hough never lets us down with his freestyle routines and this season seemed a little tame to us.

Ricki Lake and Derek Hough’s freestyle dance had some technical moves, lifts and booty shaking, but it didn’t have the flavor of Hough dances from the past.

The judges were in agreement over her doing well, but they all saw the few little errors she made in going in and out of the dances they fused for the freestyle. They earned a 27. No perfect 30s this time.

Nancy Grace “robbed” on DWTS >>

Rob and Cheryl (57): Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke needed to bust out a graceful waltz for their first dance to gain momentum, and while it wasn’t perfect, it was a good effort.

Len Goodman hit on the perfect word to describe Rob Kardashian’s waltz — “simple.”

It might have been too simple, because these dancers need all the points they can get in a race this close. They earned a 27 also.

Rob Kardashian took it from slow to fast with his freestyle dance. Cheryl Burke choreographed an “anything goes” dance that included old school ballroom style and plenty of fun.

Bruno said, “Brilliant execution. You peaked at the right time,” while Carrie Ann Inaba said, “Consider me blown away.” They earned a perfect 30.

J.R. and Karina (54): For their first dance, J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff did a cha-cha-cha that paled in comparison to Ricki and Derek’s.

Carrie Ann said his “musicality” was off, which we agree with 100%. Len Goodman somberly said, “This was not good.”

They earned 24 — ouch.

J.R. came back with a Latin-infused freestyle that was so spicy we had to take a few antacids just to recover.

Karina Smirnoff knew what she was doing when she put together that freestyle dance. She took everything that’s hot about J.R.’s dancing and capitalized on it.

We couldn’t even hear the judges over the audience, but we thought we heard “what a comeback” and “wild” a few times. They earned a perfect 30 just like Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke.

Who do you think is taking home the Dancing with the Stars title and mirrorball trophy?
