Kardashian divorce drama brings Kourtney & Kim big ratings

Boycott? What boycott? It appears The Kardashian Klan is more popular than ever as the season premiere of E!’s Kourtney & Kim Take New York attracts over 3 million viewers. Perhaps a sham marriage scandal wasn’t the worst thing that could have happened to this empire after all?

So much for that Kim Kardashian boycott. A naked yoga instructor? Who wouldn’t tune in for that?!

The season premiere of Kourtney & Kim Take New York (also known as How to Lose a Husband in Under 80 Days) revealed that it was a male yoga teacher in the buff that tipped Kim Kardashian’s 72-day marriage to hoopster Kris Humphries over the edge. What have we learned today, Children? Nude yoga = Bad for marriage… but a bonanza for ratings!

Sunday’s season opener attracted 3.2 million viewers, despite the public scrutiny surrounding the Kardashians on the heels of news that Kim was ending the brief marriage that reportedly earned her millions. Of those viewers, 2.3 million were in the sought after 18-49 demographic, giving the show an eight percent boost over last season. The episode also bested January’s Kourtney & Kim series premiere audience of 3 million viewers. Of course, that’s a far smaller audience than the brigade of 4.4 million reality fanatics who sat glued to their screens for Kris and Kim’s wedding special two months ago.

Suckers Viewers who tuned in over the weekend saw Kourtney and her beau Scott Disick and newlyweds Kim and Kris moving into their Big Apple digs. There were also sneak peeks at the early cracks in Kris and Km’s short-lived marriage. In the first episode, Kim, Kourtney and their friend strip down to their undies for a bit of downward dog in the Humphries’ living room. While Kim, 31, wore a crop top and g-string, her yoga teacher was naked as a newborn baby! Yep, Kris took that about as well as you’d imagine.

“That is disgusting,” the NBA free agent ranted as he arrived home right in the middle of the odd workout.

“This is my home. This is disrespectful,” he went on.

Kim fired back at her 26-year-old hubby, shouting: “You are so immature I can’t take it.”

Kris replied: “You can’t take it? I can’t take it…I felt uncomfortable when I came in. I nearly threw up.”

By the end of the episode, Kris had decided to head home to Minnesota, telling his wife he needed to “get ready for the [NBA] season and just train and stuff.”

Well, we all know what happened next: The train to Splitsville now boarding! Oh — while we’re on the subject of splits, in their first joint interview since Kim announced her divorce from Humphries, the Kardashian sisters chatted about the split in the January issue of Glamour (on newsstands Dec. 6).

“I think I’ll always be a hopeless romantic,” a wistful-sounding Kim told the mag. “I believe in love and the dream of having a perfect relationship, but my idea of it has changed. I think I need to not live in a fairy tale like that. I think I maybe need to just snap out of it and be a little more realistic.”

Now there’s a thought.
