Barbara Walters is obsessed with the Kardashian sisters. The veteran news anchor placed the trio of Kourtney, Kim and Khloe on her annual list of the world’s most fascinating people.
It’s that time again! Barbara Walters is ready to unveil her list of the most fascinating people of the year. ABC has given us a sneak peek at the honorees that will appear on Walters‘ year-end special.
Walters’ latest subjects span sports, reality TV, music and even royalty. Three of the biggest stars include those controversial, love-to-hate Kardashians. Kourtney, Kim and Khloe are on Walters’ radar thanks to their eventful year. Over the past month alone, Kim has filed for divorce and Kourtney has announced her second pregnancy.
Other honorees include pop star Katy Perry, Modern Family‘sEric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Britain’s royal sister Pippa Middleton. With the exception of the latter three, most of the people featured on Walters’ list are more familiar than fascinating.

Despite the success of everyone mentioned, there are several buzzworthy talents missing from the list. In terms of music, why not highlight someone like Nicki Minaj? The hip-hop artist has had an amazing year and was recently named Billboard’s Rising Star of 2011. On the acting front, Michael Fassbender and Ryan Gosling have both turned in stellar performances over the past 12 months. Gosling appeared in three films, while Fassbender appeared in an astounding five.
Instead of focusing on Simon Cowell, they could place a magnifying glass on his X Factor partner L.A. Reid. He’s been an industry insider for years, and has become a major public figure thanks to his new gig. Walters could have thrown in some fresher talent, but she decided to play it safe. Maybe next year?
