Carrie Underwood gets lucky in Vegas at the ACAs

Monday night, superstars like Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean flooded Las Vegas for one of the biggest events in country music. The city played host to the American Country Awards, where they dished out trophies to fan favorites.

Three must be Carrie Underwood‘s lucky number. Last night, the singer won a trio of trophies at the American Country Awards, following the success of her third album Play On.

Thanks to Underwood’s hit single “Mama’s Song,” she won top honors as Female Artist of the Year, Single of the Year and Music Video of the Year by a Female Artist. But despite Underwood’s achievements, the show’s biggest winner was Jason Aldean, who picked up six awards, including Artist of the Year and Single of the Year by a Male Artist.

According to Billboard, the American Country Awards are voted on by the fans, which usually gives CMA and ACM underdogs a shot at recognition. Chris Young, who previously won the reality competition Nashville Star, earned two trophies for Breakthrough Artist of the Year and overall Single of the Year for “Voices.”

Aside from Underwood and Young, several other reality TV alums walked away winners at the ACAs. Alongside Jason Aldean, original American Idol star Kelly Clarkson won Single of the Year, Vocal Collaboration as well as Music Video of the Year, Group or Collaboration. And last year’s A.I. headliner Scotty McCreery was named New Artist of the Year.
