Kate Middleton: Style icon of 2011

by

Kate Middleton‘s official engagement photo, the “Nanette” dress by British designer Reiss, retailed for $310 and sold out even before the photo was released. This beautiful white, asymmetrical dress sold out at the rate of one per minute.

The dress is actually from Reiss’ 2009 collection, but, after its immediate and immense popularity, the British label re-released it to accommodate demand. Britain magazines often referred to Kate’s style as “high-street fashion,” meaning Middleton’s favored clothing found in typical U.K. malls, not designer or couture boutiques for 2011.

David Reiss, the brand’s founder, noted Kate has long-worn the label and appreciates the visibility she provided, “Kate has been a customer of Reiss for some time now and we are absolutely delighted that she chose to wear one of our dresses for such a wonderful occasion.”
