SheKnows can’t forget Kate Middleton‘s gorgeous wedding dress by Alexander McQueen. Middleton truly looked like a modern princess in her dress by Sarah Burton for the late British designer. The lace dress with a sweetheart neckline inspired hundreds of bridal trends and secured her a place in fashion history much like her husband’s late mother, Princess Diana.
Vogue‘s International Editor at Large, Hamish Bowles, was very impressed with Kate Middleton’s choice for her wedding, “It’s a marvelous tribute to British design that she would choose Sarah Burton, who’s doing such a sensational job carrying the torch of McQueen’s visionary talent.”
Access Hollywood revealed the details behind the dress and explained it was entirely handmade by the Royal School of Needlework. Using a technique from the 1820s, “individual flowers [were] cut from lace and hand-engineered onto ivory silk tulle to create a unique and organic design, which [incorporated] the rose, thistle, daffodil, and shamrock.”
