Is Ewan McGregor contradicting himself? On the one hand the actor is baffled by the notion life with four daughters would be anything but grand, and on the other he’s dreaming of a career that would offer a “solitary existence.”
Ewan McGregor wouldn’t trade life as the father of four girls for anything — though a new line of work may be in order. The 40-year-old recently spoke to GQ about his four new films due out in 2012, and the change of career he has in mind.
Fans of Ewan McGregor have much to look forward to, as his films Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, The Impossible, Haywire and Jack the Giant Killer are all due out in 2012. In addition, 1999’s The Phantom Menace is set to be put out in 3-D — news to Ewan who commented upon hearing word, “They’re actually going to rerelease it into the cinema? Well, that’s interesting.”
The busy father of Clara, 15, Esther, 10, Jamiyan, 10 and a 12-month-old baby whose name has not been disclosed, is taken aback by the suggestion his home life ought to be overwhelming. “I never feel battered by it,” he insisted to GQ. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Should Ewan McGregor ever retire from acting, he’s got a second career already picked out. “I like the idea of being a sculptor,” the 40-year-old said. “Just me alone, making something — that solitary existence.”
So he does want a break from life in a house of pink, then? Don’t jump to any conclusions too quickly. He continued, “And then you come out, and you’re back into the house with all the kids. That would be perfect.”
