Gisele Bundchen is teaming up with Birth Around the World to advocate for childbirth education. The approach she recommends? Drug-free as she did it, of course.
Gisele Bundchen wants to share the beauty of her natural birth experience with the world. The model and mother of 2-year-old son Benjamin Brady has teamed up with Birth Around the World to promote education of birthing options.
Gisele Bundchen, whose homebirth was assisted by midwife and neonatal nurse Mayra Calvetti, wrote on her personal website Tuesday:
“When Mayra told me her idea about the Birth Around the World Project I thought it was a beautiful idea and knew that it would be really cool if she could share a little bit of this journey on my blog. I had the opportunity to experience the natural process of birth and it was one of the most life changing experiences for me and very, very special!”
Gisele Bundchen, recently named half of the richest couple according to Forbes, continued, “I believe it’s a woman’s right to make the decision about how she’s going to give birth to her child. And it’s also her right to have access to the information she needs so she can make that decision from a place of awareness, and not a place of fear.”

“I believe that sharing information and showing different ways of giving birth can help clear up some myths and misunderstandings about natural childbirth that for a long time was the only way of giving birth,” the 31-year-old Brazilian model added. “I hope that I can learn even more about the subject through the experiences of these women around the world and be able to share this with you here on my blog.”
