Talent show judge Nicole Scherzinger is one of three Interscope recording artists whose Twitter page was hacked this week and plastered with messages backing Ron Paul’s campaign for the presidency.
Let the Twitter Warfare begin: Has Nicole Scherzinger endorsed Ron Paul’s bid for president?
You know, because publicly backing the Libertarian’s campaign for the White House worked out so well when Kelly Clarkson tried it!
Some tech-savvy Paul supporters tried to snag additional star endorsements for his 2012 presidential campaign by hacking into the Twitter pages of at least three critically-acclaimed recording artists.
Early Wednesday, a host of similarly-phrased “Paul for President” endorsements popped up on the official Twitter accounts of Scherzinger, No Doubt and Rise Against. The tweets were deleted by each artist after several hours. Billboard tipsters later revealed that the viral endorsements were actually the work of hackers.

“For the first time ever a politician isn’t lying to us. WAKE UP AMERICA! Ron Paul 2012 I Love this Guy #RonPaulRevolution!” read the message posted to Nicole’s Twitter feed.
A short time later, this popped up on the page of progressive punk rockers Rise Against: “We endorse Ron Paul this 2012 too. We love you Ron! #ronpaulrevolution.”
No Doubt‘s imposter took things a step further, posting two tweets.
“Today We Officially Endorse Ron Paul 2012 Donate to him here #ronpaulrevolution,” with a link to donate, followed by: “If you actually read what Ron Paul is saying, you will discover that for the first time in your life a politician is not lying to you.”
The band eventually posted a message clarifying the fact that they’ve made no political endorsements at this time. Rise Against, known for its liberal political activism, flat out denied having anything to do with the Paul campaign, tweeting, “As you would all assume, We DO NOT support Ron Paul.”
Coincidentally, all three artists can be found on the Interscope Records roster. Hmmm, a curious coincidence that may explain why they’re linked in this specific hacking?
Two weeks ago, Clarkson was viciously attacked all across the social network for coming out in support of the Texas congressman — a Republican presidential candidate viewed by some Americans as racist and homophobic.
Despite a Twitter backlash, the pop star’s record sales have shot through the roof. Digital sales for Kelly’s latest disc, Stronger, jumped to number one on Amazon in the first 24 hours after Kelly’s Ron Paul hat-tip.
Paul finished second behind Mitt Romney in Tuesday’s GOP New Hampshire primary.
